Some 1 billion people across 38 fragile and conflict–affected states experience lower economic growth and are more vulnerable to shocks than those in other countries. In most cases, fragility and conflict do not stop at the border, impacting neighboring regions and the world through cross-border insecurity, migration and refugee flows, and in some cases, trade disruptions.
