SADC to boost trade by 50 percent

Intra-regional trade in goods manufactured in Southern Africa is expected to account for at least 50 percent of all trade by the year 2030.

This is according to the Southern African Development Community’s Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap.

Apart from internal strategies to grow manufacturing and trade, SADC is also counting on the recent operationalisation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to meet its target. As of this week, only three SADC member states – Angola, the Comoros and the DRC – are yet to ratify the AfCFTA Agreement that creates a continent-wide market. Read More.
