Welcome — finally — to Geneva! It is wonderful to see you all here in person. No matter how great technology is, nothing can beat an in-person meeting! I want to thank the Swiss authorities for their support and generosity in getting us here. I want to thank the General Council Chair, Ambassador Didier Chambovey (Switzerland), his predecessor Ambassador Dacio Castillo (Honduras) and the wonderful staff of the WTO for their hard work in making this meeting happen.
This is my first WTO ministerial conference and it is a great privilege to stand before you as your 15-month-old DG ready and willing to serve.
