At the 2023 Heckscher-Ohlin Conference on 11 May organized by the Swedish National Board of Trade and the Stockholm School of Economics Center for Asian Studies, Deputy Director-General Anabel González highlighted the role of researchers, universities and think tanks in providing intellectual support for the rules-based trading system and the global economy. She urged academics to act more like “plumbers” to help policymakers find pragmatic solutions to concrete trade policy problems.
